This document describes the HKQUEER mailing list and covers how to
use it, its purpose, and some basic etiquette. I have modeled this
document on the much more detailed information provided by the APANET
mailing list.
Please read and save it so you'll be able to unsubscribe or change your address with very little trouble.
HKQUEER served by listserv@sqzm14.ust.hk is a closed (for subscribers only), unmoderated (all messages are posted) list that is for discussion of issues of concern to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, or any similarly self-labeled individuals in or interested in Hong Kong.
Emphasis should be placed on issues directly related to Hong Kong and Asia, in an effort to avoid having this list merely duplicate the information found elsewhere.
The list was set up as a venue for the free exchange of ideas regardless of subscribers' sex, gender, orientation, race, ethnicity, age, weight, height, physical or mental impairment, religion, political affiliation, aesthetic persuasion or erotic predilection. It is intended as a forum for the discussion of social, political, moral, ethical, spiritual, sexual, medical and all other issues that the subscribers may care to raise.
While HKQUEER is for open discussions, some people may want to participate without revealing their identities. Currently, you may post anonymously by mailing to the listmom, spode@sqzm14.ust.hk, requesting anonymous forwarding to the list. Confidentiality assured. Note that the HKQUEER subscriber list is also confidential, and is only accessible by the list administrator.
The list is administered by Edward Spodick (spode@sqzm14.ust.hk).

You can get a list of the commands and the options that this listserver accepts by sending a message with "HELP" in the body of a message to listserv@sqzm14.ust.hk.
Special note to AOL users: please subscribe using a screen name you plan to keep. If you change your screen name, hkqueer mail to you will start bouncing, and I'll have to drop you from the list.
Some list members using msdos mail and similar systems are unable to see the From: address of postings to the list. For their convenience, consider signing your submissions with your email address so they will have the ability to reply personally. If you can't figure out who a message is from, please ask the list administrator rather than sending personal mail to the entire list.
Privacy:
HKQUEER is a closed list (only members can send mail to the list), and the subscription list is only available to the list administrators. While this provides some security, list members should be aware that:
2) While I will try to delete obvious frivolous subscription attempts, (e.g. someone who sends a blanket subscription command to all the lists on this server) I cannot guarantee that every subscriber to the list is gay or gay friendly.
