LGBT = Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered
All over the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people suffer discrimination and persecution, simply for being who they are. Amnesty International campaigns against identity-based discrimination, whether it is based on race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual identity or sexual orientation. In the local context, Hong Kong currently has no legislation against discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation. The LGBT community in Hong Kong faces discrimination in housing, jobs benefits and immigration.
The group meets on an ad-hoc basis (check out "noticeboard" for more details) and the Group Coordinator can be contacted at admin-hk@amnesty.org. International cases are posted regularly on this website - please write on their behalf, following the guidelines given. Letters, emails and faxes can be written in English or Chinese, provided the name of the person is written in English.
